Brand New Conference 2022

Music for the opening titles and speaker intros started with an interesting brief from Bryony Gomez-Palacio and Armin Vit of UnderConsideration, LLC:

First priority is something weird. Not unpleasant.

Ultimately they were interested in a musical cocktail of country music twangs and hip hop beats—an “Austin-y mix of things” to recognize the legacy of country music and the influx of young hip people. Voices resonated with them as well and they asked that I explore unusual vocal possibilities with the words “Brand” “New” “Conference” “2022” and “Austin.” Here’s the final opening title as it appeared at the conference.

The visual style of the title design (by GEO) helped me to develop the overall sound palette. His final animation was synced with the music once it was done and mastered. Notice how it snaps and bounces in time with melodic phrases that come and go.
